Call for Applications

ANFASA, the Academic and Non-Fiction Authors Association of South Africa, is inviting new voices to join an exciting project aimed at writing and publishing in indigenous languages. The project aims to create a solid foundation which will impart skills in writing in indigenous languages. Ultimately participants will learn how to craft manuscripts and publish books.

All South African Indigenous Languages writers are eligible to apply. Selected writers will be invited to a two-day intensive workshop to enhance their writing skills. subsequently be given time to go and write their prose piece (can be fiction or creative nonfiction).

Writers from the following provinces are invited to apply: Mpumalanga, Northern Cape, KwaZulu Natal, Limpopo, Northwest, Eastern Cape and Free State.

  • Additional writing sample must be submitted and attached as a separate document on the form
  • Submitted writing samples must be between 500 and 750 words.
  • Poetry, short stories and essays are not eligible at this point.
